Phlur Reviews - What Is It?

Susan Jackson

DO NOT BUY Phlur!!! You Must Read This Review!
Fully Researched: Side Effects, Ingredients, Price, User Feedback and More!

Phlur is a collection of six unisex fragrances most probably created just for earning money, not for bringing aromatic pleasure to the customers. You know - the perfumes with extremely shy packaging that has a low cost and low-quality scent. It is probably manufactured for people who actually don't care a lot how they smell. The founder of this Austin-based fragrance collection is Eric Korman, formerly president of global e-commerce for Ralph Lauren. Anne Serrano-McClain is his colleague who assisted in the process of creating the scent line. The perfumer studied under masters in Grasse, France. Another assistant of theirs is Chandler Burr, a scent expert and critic.

The idea of the team was to create a fun and easy way to shop for a fragrance from your couch, test it out on your own body and buy if you like it. Probably this is the reason why the online-only brand avoids lengthy descriptions of scent, instead, the shoppers are presented with a multi-sensory storyboard for each fragrance, including music, images, and adjective-laden descriptions. This is a unique approach, but unfortunately it doesn't prove to give the full idea of what the fragrance smells like. The only advantage is that Phlur is open to send you samples of fragrances you are interested in for you to choose.

Customer Reviews - Does It Have Any Side Effects?

There is a great number of customer reviews about Phlur collections of fragrances. What people don't like is that the manufacturer focuses on adjectives and storytelling, rather than on the description of notes and accords on their official website. Potential clients want to know what their scents smell like before ordering any. The company's approach of using music and adjectives in order to describe a scent is interesting but very subjective. For example, Phlur describes Hepcat like "coarse and fearless", "the warm wool jacket enveloping you". You have no chances to guess how this fragrance smells like in reality. Besides, one and the same scent may have different impact on the mood of different users. The visual aides are more straightforward but they are mostly designed to attract a generation of people who love Instagram and Pinterest. Each scent comes with a few storyboard pics that also create a mood. Once again, this approach is too subjective. One individual may associate a definite scent with a desert, while someone else will imagine jungles when sensing it. What about scent's playlists? These are nothing more than familiar songs that have nothing to do with this or that scent. This multi-sensory method is what differentiates Phlur from other brands available on the market. I would suggest you check out their fragrances by asking them to send you their samples.

What users like about Phlur perfumes is that they are made with roughly 10-20 % oil. There is a magnetic cap on each bottle, so it will not be lost easily. The manufacturer uses 20% recycled glass in their bottles. Each of their scents can be worn by both men and women. This is a plus but, to my mind, men and women should smell differently. Unfortunately, Phlur does not serve as a good guide to wearing fragrances. Their scents do not last long on the skin and clothing. It is high time to take a look at what real users think about the line of scents.

"I have some concerns about Phlur. I appreciate their fresh approach to scent descriptions but I still think that they are too pandering. For instance, Siano is associated with club music and images of nightclub-goers, which I don't like. A Phlur representative might say that it is just not for me but I would like to make that conclusion on my own by concrete understanding of a scent's tones. Unfortunately, potential customers are not provided with normal scent description"

"Phlur claims to offer gender-neutral scents, which means that they can be worn by both men and women. However, I don't believe in unisex perfumes. Let's take Greylocke, which is associated with the description and playlist I enjoyed best. When I ordered it I realized that it is not suitable for me since it is a pine-based scent. It is too masculine for a woman to wear"

"After trying all perfumes from phlur, I can say that this company is completely uneducated in the sphere of scents. I would recommend ordering two sample vials for $10 before getting a full bottle of perfume. Besides, the brand's customer service is absolutely unresponsive after you have bought anything from them. It is better to go to the local store and to pick your fragrance style"

Where To Buy Phlur?

You can shop for a new scent by browsing the product pages for each of the scents and order two sample bottles of fragrance you want to try. It will cost you $10. A full bottle of scent is priced at $85 but you can buy it for $75. You can order up to three samples sets for credit. If you have any questions, contact the customer service.

My Final Summary

I cannot recommend neither this company, nor their scents since their team proves to know nothing about the world of scents and perfumes. They are not concerned with traditional gender roles, thus they decided to create universal scents for both genders. Nothing is known about the quality of scents. The overall customer reputation is mixed. Many people are not pleased with the fragrances they receive. Some of them claim that they do not correspond the description provided on the official website.
